About NIFT Entrance

National Institute of Fashion Technology holds the NIFT Entrance Examination every year for admission to its undergraduate (Bachelor of Design, Bachelor of Fashion Technology) and post-graduate courses in Fashion. NIFT score is applicable for admission to courses given at 16 campuses of the NIFT at Bengaluru, Raebareli, Shillong, Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bhopal, Gandhinagar, Jodhpur, Kangra, Kannur, Kolkata, Patna, Mumbai, Srinagar, and New Delhi. Before sitting for the entrance exam of NIFT, you should be properly informed of certain details like eligibility, exam pattern, syllabus, important dates, ways to prepare for an examination, and many more.

NIFT Entrance Exam Pattern

There are high possibilities that the pattern of the NIFT entrance exam may change. Every year, there is one or the other changes that are observed in the exam pattern.

The number of questions each year may differ in each section. So, it is important to be updated about the exam pattern too.

Subjects required for NIFT entrance examinations include the following:-

  •  English Comprehension.
  •  Communication Ability.
  •  Quantitative Ability.
  •  Analytical and Logical Ability.
  •  Current Affairs.
  •  General Knowledge.

Creative Ability Test (CAT) Pattern

The creative test is held for both UG and PG programmes to examine the intuitive ability, creative use of colour, design skills, and research power in concept development and design experience.

Situation Test

The situation test assesses the candidate’s creative ability and skills in managing the material in an offered situation. Candidates are needed to create a model along with a brief write-up explaining the concept. The model will be estimated on innovation, creativity, space visualisation, colour plot, and overall display.

Group Discussion and Personal Interviews

Candidates who crack the written examination are expected to appear for the GD and PI round. GD covers 15 to 20 minutes of discussion on the case study linked to the candidate where candidates are evaluated on interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, leadership traits, communication skills, etc. The personal interview assesses a candidate on general knowledge, career orientation, aptitude, communication, etc.

Eligibility Criteria for UG Course

  • An Applicant should not be more than 23 years of age. For reserved category candidates, the 5 years’ age relaxation is given.
  • An applicant must have passed the 12th or equivalent examination from a recognised Board.
  • For taking admission in the Bachelor programme in Fashion Technology (B.FTech.), a candidate must have a diploma in engineering (3 or 4 years).

Eligibility Criteria for PG Courses

  • A candidate must have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognised University or three years UG diploma from NIFT/NID.
  • For taking admission in M.FTech, a candidate must have done B.FTech from NIFT or B. Tech/B.E. from a recognised University.
  • No age bar for the NIFT Exam.
